The luxury Welsh hospitality group, The Oldwalls Collection, has turned one couple’s dream into a reality by donating a wedding worth over £15,000. The dream prize was donated to the Child of Wales auction last September and Thomas Grother and Chalina Chan, doctors from Pontypridd, tied the knot on Sunday 18th May 2025 at Oldwalls Gower.
The wedding, hosted at one of Oldwalls Collections sought-after wedding venues was auctioned to raise funds for the Child of Wales charity, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to support two vital causes – 2Wish and Joseph’s Smile.
The newlyweds, Mr & Mrs Grother said: “We had the perfect day in the perfect venue. The sun was shining as we tied the knot surrounded by family and friends at Oldwalls. We are so grateful to the Oldwalls Collection for their generosity in donating this wedding to fundraise for two amazing charities, knowing that 100% of our investment is being donated to two very worthy causes made the wedding day even more special.”
This heartwarming initiative combined celebration with purpose, enabling Thomas and Chalina to enjoy the wedding they had wished for while also making a life-changing difference to families across Wales.
Blanche Sainsbury, Founder of the Child of Wales Awards, shared: “Congratulations to our wonderful wedding winners, Thomas and Chalina. We hope your day was nothing short of perfect. A heartfelt thank you to the amazing team at The Oldwalls Collection for their incredible support of the Child of Wales Awards. Your generosity played a vital role in helping us raise essential funds for two incredible charities — 2Wish and Joseph’s Smile. We truly couldn’t have done it without you”.
Shakira Obaid, Commercial Director at the Oldwalls Collection, added: “At Oldwalls, we believe in the power of love, community and giving back. Donating a wedding to support the Child of Wales Awards was our way of making a meaningful difference, and it’s been a joy to see Thomas and Chalina begin their journey together in such a special way. We’re proud to support causes that matter and are committed to using our platform to help where we can.”
The wedding not only marked a memorable chapter in Thomas and Chalina’s love story but it’s also a testament to what can happen when businesses and charities come together for good. In addition to the huge donation from The Oldwalls Collection, photography was donated by Younger Photography, a delicious cake by Creative Kitchen and Flowers by Karen Lodwig Florist.
Chalina continued: “Starting married life in this way has been a privilege – we can’t thank everyone enough who has made this possible. It was truly the best day of our lives.”
