There Must Be Something in the Water – Is it Lewis Capaldi X Vans?

Vans Old Skools have been a fan favourite of the footwear fashion scene since their invention more than four decades ago. They’ve become a staple of many celebrity wardrobes who’ve helped project them into the limelight during this time.

And now, in 2023, who better to bring this iconic style back to the fore than the undeniable man of the moment when it comes to chart-topping Scottish love ballads – Mr Lewis Capaldi.

The Bathgate born singer released his hard-hitting ‘How I’m Feeling Now’ documentary on Netflix yesterday and it’s already been heralded as a ‘remarkably meaningful’ watch, as the Scot discusses his difficulties suffering with tourettes and anxiety.

During the hugely emotional hour and a half long feature, we regularly saw Lewis sport the classic Vans Old Skool in Black and White, a style that, here at schuh, we recently revealed as our best selling shoe of the year, in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.

The Old Skool came to prominence among the skating community thanks to its durable sole, comfort, and immensely powerful grip. It became a long-stay in popular culture, however, thanks to its versatility and unique simplicity. But we don’t need to tell you why the Old Skool is one of the most recognisable styles of all time – you definitely have a pair somewhere.

If anything, we all love Lewis Capaldi thanks to his frank honesty and openness. You get what you see. And that’s Vans Old Skool in a nutshell – a good quality shoe awash with simplicity.

Could we see a Lewis Capaldi X Vans in the future? What would they look like? Buckfast? A Scotland flag? Watch this space.
