After completing her Fashion degree five years ago, Christy decided to make blogging a huge part of her life and what a success it’s been. Christy’s website consists of chic fashion looks, impressive photography contributing a minimalistic vibe, leading to attention from successful international brands like Topshop, Warehouse and Dr. Martens lining up to collaborate. The aim? Making the most out of your wardrobe, handy skin tips and quick makeup tutorials for every life.

A huge Cardiff success story, Carys Gray is known as ‘Busybee Carys’. After leaving university earlier than planned, Carys decided to create an Instagram and YouTube dedicated to fitness and body confidence. Within a short period of time Busybee now has over 600 thousand followers on Instagram and nearly 700 thousand international followers on YouTube with her most-watched video ‘10,000 Calorie Challenge’ boasting 4.1 million views. Dedicated to her weekly uploads, this has now become a full-time career, leading to expansion of opportunities with collaborations including Topshop and has now created her own merchandise called ‘YAE’ this stands for ‘You Are Enough’, an important message which has been advocated to her followers of all ages since starting her influencer journey.

AVANTGARDEVEGAN – GAZ OAKLEY – Vegan Chef

The Vegan community is growing and it’s no surprise as we become more familiar with the variety of recipes and flavours at our fingertips thanks to upcoming chefs like Gaz Oakley. Gaz known as ‘Avantgardevegan’ from Cardiff is a vegan chef breaking the stereotypes when it comes to ‘boring’ veganism lifestyles.

Incorporating gorgeous photography and vibrant videography, Oakley boasts over 800 thousand YouTube subscribers and nearly 400 thousand Instagram followers. This is down to his professionalism yet effortlessly cool cookery videos sharing quick and easy recipes proving you can eat pretty much all the things you love… but vegan! Now currently holding international tours of his two previous books in locations such as Berlin, a new cookery book is currently on the horizon to be released in 2020.

HUNGRY CITY HIPPY – Sustainable Blogger

As we become more aware of our depleting resources economically, there is so much we can do on a regular basis by making small changes in our day to day lives. Jane, known as Cardiff blogger ‘Hungry City Hippy’ touches on this as part of her passion project as a blogger although she discusses mostly food and travel, Jane has a soft focus on sustainability and how we can make those lifestyle changes. This topic was received well with her blogs regarding sustainability received media attention. In 2017, Jane was shortlisted as a WWF ‘Earth Hour Hero’ due to her efforts to raise awareness on green issues, being awarded second place. Following that success also in 2017, Hungry City Hippy was shortlisted “Best Green and Eco Blog” at the UK Blog Awards.

MAIR ELLIOT – Mental Health Activist

Mair Elliot is a young patient mental health activist. Mair, decided to become an activist after falling victim to the feeling she was being mistreated for her mental health with wait times and underfunding becoming a downfall, if Mair was a patient who had a physical illness she believes she would have been treated differently, as a matter of urgency. In 2013 the Welsh government launched an investigation into Child and Adolescent Mental health Services (CAMHS).

Following this investigation, Mair became part of the production for two current affair programmes through S4C and ITV which then lead to the Welsh Language programme S4C winning a bafta. Since then, many opportunities have arisen and now Mair is the chair of Hafal Wales, this is a service provider with people with mental health issues offering support to them and their families. Alongside this, she is a public speaker and co-author to a report looking into the wellbeing of young adults and children.
