Style of the City reviews Play at Pins, a new boutique bowling, dining and escape room experience in the heart of Cardiff’s city centre. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the lovely Becky, who was attentive from the moment we got there, and nothing was too much trouble.
After getting photos on their grass photo wall, we chose to sit near the bar. However, there was a lot of seating away from the bar.
We started off the evening with some cocktails from their menu, which had fifteen to choose from, mocktails not included!
Mojito – fresh mint, fresh lime, sugar, soda and spiced rum. Ask to make it strawberry – £8
Pornstar Martini – Vanilla vodka, pineapple, passionfruit and lime. Serves with a single shot of fizz – £8
Whilst enjoying our drinks we were given a menu, which offered burgers, hot dogs, loaded fries and more! There was also an option for milkshakes!
We had the delicious vegetarian Shroom burger, that oozed with cheese and fries which went down a treat! We also tried the tasty Chick’n Shack burger and cheesy fries.
Shroom Burger – Crisp-fried portabello mushroom filled with melted cheese, topped with lettuce, tomato, ShackSauce £5.75 with fries £3.00
Chick’n Shack – crispy chicken breast with lettuce, pickles and buttermilk herb mayo £6.50 with cheese fries £4.00
After our delicious food, we tasted more refreshing cocktails from their wide menu, before having a game of unique bowling with interactive lanes! We really enjoyed it, so we had to have another game! Play at Pins also offer an escape room experience if you’re brave enough to try it!

After bowling, we sat in the lounging area, enjoying the throwback tunes whilst having our final drink of the night. The interior is really on-trend and quirky with velvet chairs with gold legs.
Tropical Colada – Malibu, pineapple, mango and coconut cream shaken – £8
Strawberry Daiquiri – White Rum, lime and sugar shaken. Ask for a normal or strawberry – £8
We had a lovely time at Play at Pins, the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be returning for more tasty cocktails and bowling! We highly recommend that you check out this venue, and it’s a great location for stag or hen parties.
