Stars sign up for celebrity cup at The Celtic Manor.

Television personalities Bradley Walsh and rugby stars Greig Laidlaw and Mike Tindall are the latest stars to sign up for the Celebrity Cup sponsored by Bulmers this summer.

Walsh and Tindall were all part of the England team which won the star-studded event at Celtic Manor in 2017 and they will be keen to keep their hands on the trophy when battle is resumed on 30th June – 1st July.

Actor, comedian, presenter and singer Walsh will lead that defence of the title as he steps up to team captaincy duties for the first time. The Chase quiz show host has been a frequent guest at Celtic Manor in recent weeks as he spent time in Wales filming for the next series of Doctor Who.

Bradley said: “I’ve had a great time filming in Wales but unfortunately I’ve been too busy to spend too much time improving my golf on the driving range at Celtic Manor.

“We all enjoy playing in the Celebrity Cup and it was a real thrill to help Team England win the trophy last year. I’m delighted to be taking over as captain but I definitely feel under pressure to make sure I lead the team to victory again.”

Current Scotland and Lions rugby star Laidlaw joins some of his former team-mates already announced for this year’s Scottish team – Thom Evans, Max Evans, and Rory Lawson.

Other stars returning for the annual showdown include Mrs Brown’s Boys star and creator Brendan O’Carroll and singing superstars Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden for Team Ireland. The first names on the team sheet for home side Wales are rugby star turned TV pundit Jonathan Davies and TV presenter Gethin Jones.

Defending champions England will have two of last year’s winning side back in the fold after Dragons’ Den entrepreneur Peter Jones and former Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher confirmed their places in the line-up, while the 2016 Celebrity Cup winning captain, Rory Lawson, will also return to the lush fairways at Celtic Manor and he teams up with fellow former Scotland rugby internationals Thom Evans and Max Evans.

Visitors can also experience the VIP treatment in Hospitality or at Saturday evening’s glittering Gala Dinner.
