Canton’s favourite hair spot continues to evolve, getting only the best results for your tresses.
Cats Whiskers Hair is renowned for its welcoming and friendly atmosphere. With a professional and non-judgmental approach, the team of experienced stylists have a passion for the overall hair experience that they love to share with customers. And for those wanting a more private or quieter experience, the salon even offers a personal space upstairs.
The salon works with many luxury brands, such as Wella Professional, Great Lengths, Sway and Viola hair extensions, GHD, Eleven (which provides vegan, gluten-free and sulphate-free choices for customers), System Professional, Glowwa (vitamins for hair loss and other nutritional health benefits), and Fabric smoothing treatment.
Germana and Emma constantly look at ways to move with the times and enhance the salon experience. The team regularly attend different training courses, including those at Wella Studio, and attends hair industry events, such as the annual Salon International in London. The salon also offers the next generation of Cats Whiskers Hair stylists intensive, one-to-one training every week, encouraging their growth as individuals, as well as supporting their well-being as part of the team.
Cats Whiskers Hair has been in the heart of Canton for over 30 years, with current owners Germana and Emma working there for over 20 years. The friends bought the salon in 2015 and were excited to take it forward, giving it a modern refit in 2019. The fresh new look proved popular with old and new customers alike. Then, as with so many businesses, they were hit by the battle against COVID-19, closing for a total of around seven devastating months. With the help of their dedicated team and the support of our loyal clientele, Cats Whiskers Hair came back fighting and ready to take on new challenges.
Upon reopening, Cats Whiskers Hair introduced a more sustainable approach, becoming part of Green Salon Collective. This eco-friendly solution helps recycle the unrecyclable, turning salon waste, such as foil and empty colour tubes, into valuable materials, saving them from landfill. Hair cuttings are made into booms to help contain oil spills, and the Collective also supports research projects into making textiles or insulation from salon waste. Cats Whiskers Hair sends a vast box of waste each month to the Collective and is proud to play its part in transforming the industry. They also support the Little Princess Trust by sending any restyled hair longer than seven inches away to help make wigs for children suffering from hair loss.
With Canton fast becoming one of the most popular postcodes in Cardiff, there are plenty of new independent businesses opening up that Germana and Emma are proud to support. Staff meetings take place around the corner in Chapter, with coffees from Ffloc over the road, as well as nearby Hard Lines café and other foodie treats from Fizz & Flour and the many entrepreneurs in the Corporation. With free parking to the rear, it’s easy to treat yourself when you visit Cats Whiskers Hair and sample everything else that Canton has to offer.
