BAFTAs 2019 – Best Dressed

Last night’s BAFTAs saw film and television royalty – as well as actual royalty – take to the red carpet in London ready to celebrate the best performances of 2018. We’ve put together our list of the top 10 best dressed from the night.

The Duchess of Cambridge

Wearing Alexander McQueen.

Kate’s style is all about classic, elegant pieces, and this grecian-inspired gown is no different. Looking truly regal she kept her accessories simple and timeless to go with the sophisticated dress.

Rachel Weisz

Wearing Gucci.

Rachel manages to do what few people could and make ruffle & tulle look cool. She contrasted this feminine victorian-inspired dress with sleek hair, paired back makeup and an embellished belt to keep the look modern.

Rami Malek

Wearing Louis Vuitton.

Always so effortlessly cool, Rami Malek does it again with this white suit. A white suit can easily stray into waiter territory but the cut of the jacket and addition of gold trimmed buttons keep this look fresh and cool.

Maya Jama

Wearing Aadnevik.

Maya Jama makes her gothic all lace dress look glam with a thigh high split, embellished earrings and a leather belt. Plus her gorgeous messy braid keeps the look from seeming too “done up”.

Salma Hayek

Wearing Gucci.

This is a lesson in balance. Salma’s simple one-shoulder gown allowed her to go all out on the accessories – pairing a statement gecko brooch with a sparkling headpiece and an oversized ring she let her jewels do the talking. Proof that accessories really can change an entire look.

Irina Shayk

Wearing Burberry.

Irina shows us how to do menswear well. The slightly oversized fit of the jacket meant she could show off some skin without looking over the top. Her embellished heels kept the look fun and feminine, while her sleek hair and makeup let the suit do the talking.

Amy Jackson

Wearing Alex Perry.

Bollywood actress Amy screams glamour in this shimmering black gown. Her only accessory was an incredible jewelled serpent choker and old Hollywood inspired hair and makeup.

Letitia Wright

Wearing Stella McCartney.

This look from Letitia is the epitome of red carpet chic. Simple silver accessories were all that was needed to complement the perfect tailoring on this collarless Stella McCartney suit.

Timothee Chalamet

Wearing Haider Ackermann.

Maybe not one for everyone but Timothee’s look stands out. This outfit plays with the classic menswear look – a wonderfully tailored suit and shirt but in a busy abstract print, polished shoes but in a military boot shape, and classic trousers but made playful with red checks. Timothee’s clearly not afraid to have some fun with his red carpet looks.

Regina King

Wearing Versace.

A refreshing break from the neutral colour palette worn at this year’s BAFTAs. Regina’s pink gown looked stunning on her. The shape of this dress has been done before but the vibrant shade of pink makes it feel fresh and young.
