Manchester Christmas Market steals the spotlight, boasting an impressive 71,927 hashtags on Instagram. Having recently opened for their 26th year, Manchester’s markets are estimated to welcome a whopping nine million people, and host around 200 stalls for visitors to indulge in, as well as ample food and drink.
Strasbourg Christmas Market, France, takes second place, having 59,600 hashtags on Instagram. Strasbourg boasts one of the oldest Christmas markets in Europe, and attracts around 2 million visitors each year, with its stunningly decorated streets, and beautiful illuminations. The market boasts over 300 chalet-style stalls, making it the perfect spot for a festive day out and some festive photos.
Scotland follows closely behind, as Edinburgh Christmas Market has an impressive 59,078 hashtags. Located in the beautiful, historic city centre, Edinburgh’s markets host over 70 stalls, and live events. Additionally, the market is home to The Big Wheel, Scotland’s largest Ferris wheel, so there is plenty for all the family to enjoy.
London’s Hyde Park Winter Wonderland ranks fourth, with a total of 53,500 hashtags. The market is opening its doors to visitors on 21st November, and is home to over 100 rides and attractions, as well as the UK’s largest open-air ice rink. Welcoming over two million visitors each year, and covering 350 acres, this beautiful market isn’t one to miss this Christmas.
Bath Christmas Market follows in fifth, having 37,814 hashtags on Instagram. This free, open air festive market brings out Bath’s beauty, with its festive light displays, and surrounding scenic architecture which attracts over 450,000 visitors each year. It’s a great spot for a festive day out, due to its wide range of 230 stalls, and beautiful market design, making it a great spot for a festive photo.
