room2: A revolutionary hometel concept

Room2 was founded by two brothers from Hammersmith; Rob and Stu, who had travelled for 10 years racing boats for Great Britain.

Tired of staying in soulless accommodation which disrupted their training, they set about creating unique, thoughtfully designed environments, run by people with real personalities and where hotel norms do not exist.

Room2 was born from understanding people and their accommodation needs. Guests are flocking to Airbnb, it gives people flexibility, comfort and routine. However, it lacks the security, services and the quality assurance of a hotel.

Having operated as Lamington Group in west London since 1967, Hammersmith was the obvious first choice for room2.

With a diverse range of modern travellers, it has been highly successful, and this same factor combined with Southampton’s innovative culture and growing economy made it the perfect place to continue the journey.

The original room2 concept was conceived in 2014 and in late 2016 it launched a Hammersmith Townhouse bringing the initial idea to life.

I stayed at room2 Hammersmith, in a large studio. First and foremost, it was stunning, quaint and minimalistic with the cutest small touches such as a welcome letter to my attention, very soothing background music coming from a radio on one of the bedside tables, mini-cards with tips on workout (5 minutes of yoga stretches), top ten local hot spots, food & drinks and groceries shops (with an invitation to use their garden herb), to name a few…

Secondly, be prepared to sleep like a baby, the double bed was so incredibly comfortable, the mattress was thick and bed high. The pillows were fluffy and the duvet and bed cover made the sleeping space wholesome and warm.

My room came with its own kitchen which gave any guest the leisure rolex yacht master replica to cook for themselves, the kitchen was equipped with a hob, microwave, kettle, dishwasher, fridge.

The Living-Room area had an armchair as well as a table and two chairs, with a plug and a USB port in the wall, making it the perfect workspace for business travellers.

It also included extra useful appliances such as a hairdryer and fan.

My bathroom or washroom (as branded on its glass door) offered a wet room, sink and toilets with Malin + Goetz body & hair products (apothecary products for face, body, and hair made with natural ingredients for Women and Men).

The overall décor was clean and white in keeping with the rest of my accommodation and clearly showing care for the environment.

Bonus points: A beautiful garden and a laundry room. What more could one ask? A notice board at the entrance displays all former guests’ best tips on what to do in the area.

My overall experience was a 10/10, if anything I wish I could have stayed longer.

Room2 is the perfect type home and hotel combination allowing extended mod vape stays for business or world travellers, a through away from Hammersmith tube station (5 min walk) and town centre with all local amenities on your doorstep.

The rate card is rather attractive and ideal for budget travellers considering the very high standards of accommodation offered. Large studio nightly rate during my 2-day visit: £89 during the weekend.

A cracking Easter deal is now live for the Easter Holiday period for the Southampton property: https://www.room2.com/southampton/offers/
