After several months of lockdown, the whole of London is finally opening back up, and although normality is still a distant memory, the luxury dining experience is on everyone’s mind. The Andaz London located in the heart of East London on Liverpool Street provides an abundance of options. With five intimate dining options, the luxury hotel has something to make anyone’s taste buds tingle.
If you wish to experience ‘Rake’s Take’ on all-day dining then expect a different feel throughout all their rooms. The Front Room offers an outdoor like adventure, with interiors influenced by the garden. It is also home to various local DJs through the weekend evenings to add buzz to the relaxed venue. If you wish to seek sophistication The Palour is for you providing a relaxed yet classic interior The Palour is ideal for the perfect date night. Last but not least, for booking only The Secret Room is perfect for private gatherings and special occasions.
All-day dining makes for a simple way to escape the city, in the most convenient locations (just next to Liverpool Street Station.) Whether you are looking for a light bite or a three-course meal Rake’s Cafe Bar offers a selection fit for all the family. The Crispy Wholetail Scampi, is a flavoursome treat after a few too many signature cocktails. Pair it with Cauliflower Wings and Punjabi Vegetable Samosas and you have the perfect sharing platter for you and your drinking buddy! If you are looking to spend the whole evening there, Rake’s Mushroom, Avocado & Chimichurri Burger is a delicious vegetarian option served with a choice of seasoned fried, fresh salad or sweet potato fries (which l opted for, being pescatarian). The British classic Bangers & Mash is also on the menu, a tasteful Cumberland Sausage topped with fried onions cooked to perfection is usually the ideal pub grub, but Rake’s execution to the highest standard takes it to another level.
The Eastway Brasserie is definitely one to keep your eye on. If you are looking to transition from corporate evenings and one-one-business meetings being hosted via Zoom and back to social interaction, the stripped back, uniformed interiors provides the perfect professional environment.
Whether it is brunch or dinner you are looking for Eastway Brasserie has a refreshing option for all. A colourful display of fresh foods makes it difficult to eat before capturing the artistic elegance. An indulgent menu offering Parmesan & Leek Risotto, Venison Ragout and Eastway Fishcakes to name a few… Whilst still catering for all, serving the grilled classic: a Sirloin Steak cooked to your desired perfection, and that is all just on the lunch menu!
If neither Eastway or Rake’s are yet to take your fancy the Andaz does not stop there. The stunning Japanese restaurant Miyako, led by head chef Kosei Sakamoto introduces a cultural option into the mix. The typical open kitchen design, provides a traditional Japanese dining experience but located in the Metropolitan buzz of Liverpool Street. Whilst still struggling to open, at a safe capacity, Mikayo will for sure be on everyone’s go to post lockdown hit list. An influx of smaller dishes perfect for trying new bursts of flavour, paired with traditional main dishes for their regulars that have a favourite. With Sushi dishes such as the Tuna & Avocado Roll and Edamame Sushi being a hit on the menu, Mikayo also offers a sushi masterclass perfect to enjoy with friends and family.
If it is a desirable essence of sophistication that you are after, the 1901 Wine Lounge is faultless. With an elegant interior added with an exclusive menu offering only Afternoon Tea and of course Wine, then this the venue for you. A delicate choice of sandwiches including the classic Cream Cheese & Cucumber and the unusual Chorizo Aracnchi makes for a diverse palette. Followed by a selection of desserts, which obviously includes the Afternoon Tea special Scones served with Jam and Clotted Cream.
Last but not least, something that feels a little closer to home at the Andaz is Lady Abercorn’s Pub & Kitchen. The laid back East London pub provides home cooked food in a casual environment. The uplifting Landlady creates a humorous ambience and a community feeling in the pub. Serving British loved dishes like Fish & Chips and the Welsh Rack of Lamb the home away from home British pub exterior is definitely shining through. The traditional pub interior compliments the menu perfectly, being an ideal location to catch up with friends or have a quick pint after work. After all, who does not like pub Fridays?
