Style of the City’s Baby Christmas Gift Guide: Our parenting columnist, Polly James, shares all!

Straight after Indy was born in March of this year, in the months that followed three more members of the crew joined the family. Not mine, obviously, but my siblings followed suit in starting families and 2020 has been wild for sure, lockdown babies aplenty!

With a new generation of little feet around the Christmas table this year and the festive season upon us when it comes to gift-giving, this is the cutest it’s going to get.

If you, family, friend or loved one has just had a baby, you have come to the right place and if it happens to be baby’s first Christmas—well, that calls for pulling out all the stops. Look no further for these sure-fire crowd-pleasers, whilst celebrating Christmas traditions old and new and ticking something off the ever-growing parental ‘to-buy’ list, sprinkled with a little bit luxury as well– we are Style of City!

Let’s get shopping!

First, on the list (and disclaimer before we go any further) I love a personalised gift. A keepsake and momentum of a special occasion. Indy’s first Christmas is just that and remember how I said this is going to get super cute? Well here goes. A super adorable personalised reindeer baby knot top hat is perfect to get you in the festive spirit. This makes a lovely gift for a new baby this Christmas and to capture that precious ‘babies first Christmas’ classic Instagram moment! £12.99

Running downstairs on Christmas morning and being greeted by your Santa sack under the tree honestly was the biggest buzz as a kid! I always had the same Santa sack and it was so special to me. I can’t wait for my Indy to have the same feeling! This sack features a stunning hand-drawn Santa and the perfect size for keeping all their prezzies in! £24.99.

Dressing my baby up in Christmas PJ’s? Oh yeah! I wanted something festive, cute and traditional and I absolutely adore the range at Rachel Riley. She designs classic luxury childrenswear & is best known for quality & style. And keeping with the new Christmas tradition of matching PJ’s on Christmas eve, Rachel Riley do these in baby and lady’s sizes. £69.00.

You know that ever-growing parental ‘to-buy’ list, well if there is a new baby in your life, this perfect cosy, winter sleep set gift bundle is ideal. Indy is quite a content baby when its bedtime, but she loves snuggling in to her Pip the Panda. It’s the soft velvet material on her face she loves and the sweet tunes and the light-up belly. It’s the only thing she has in the cot with her, I guess Pip is her comforter. I haven’t tried to put her down without it, I dare not. £39.99.

I had Indy in one since the day she was born, I swear by them and the Tommee Tippee range, not only a trusted baby brand for decades but these bags are actually a nice tight fit around the body a which is the perfect way to transition your baby from a swaddle to sleep bag. Indy, she loves it. I have the pale blue and white playful monkey print, perfect for my cheeky monkey but there are loads of designs to choose from and also a winter essential at bedtime with a 2.5 tog for this time of year and those cold nights. £25.99.

Thankfully, Little Butterfly London have an exquisite range mothers, so had to indulge on a treat for me too! £43.00.

I love Christmas jumpers, whether it’s a bit on the tacky side or super traditional. Throughout the whole of December, they are a staple in my wardrobe and now I hand the baton over to my daughter to make me proud in the Christmas jumper stakes. I found this Super adorable tricot sweater by luxury brand Patachou. Embellished with a charming festive bear embroidery. White jeans and baby Uggs to complete the look! Roll on December! £47.00
