Named the 2019 European capital of culture, Plovdiv is the first Bulgarian city to be awarded the title. The whole region experiences 360 clear nights each year (on average) making it an incredible place to stargaze and study the solar system. There are many observatories and tours can be organized to make the most of the area. Why not camp out under the stars for a truly romantic and unforgettable break from real life? This area is also well-known for its vineyards and local brandy, pisco, which is a must whilst visiting. Horse-riding through the valleys is also popular; allowing you to explore the area and enjoy being completely submerged in the culture, thousands of miles away from reality.
