What’s On in Cardiff: Our Favourite Events This Spring

After Drakeford’s latest briefing on lockdown restrictions in Wales, we’re looking forward to events hopefully going ahead this spring.  Here’s what we have to look forward to in Cardiff over the next few months.

Rambert: Rooms

Rambert’s brilliant dancers invite us into wildly different worlds and surprising set-ups. The routine highlights people trying to live their lives, navigate dilemmas, swerve mishaps and survive their mini dramas. The perfect performance to view from home, until we can finally re-enter the theatres.

5 Seconds of Summer

5SOS brand new tour has been rescheduled and is coming back to Cardiff this April.  They have become a global phenomenon and their industrial-inspired edge album Youngblood has defied all expectations. We look forward to 5 Seconds of Summer bringing some music back to Cardiff’s crowds.

All tickets from 2020 will automatically carry over to 2021.

Jo Whiley’s 90s Anthems

Many know Jo Whiley from her time as a radio presenter on BBC Radio 1, and she’s bringing the biggest night of the year to Cardiff this spring.  All the best tracks from the greatest decade for music will be played, from The Chemical Brothers to Fatboy Slim. It’s a night not to be missed!

Tony Adams: Sober Not Sombre

Tony Adams is the inspirational captain of Arsenal, who lifted 10 trophies over three decades, and lion heart leader of England. Off the field, he acknowledged his alcoholism and in sobriety he established the Sporting Chance clinic, which continues to help sportsmen and women with addiction and mental health issues. We look forward to Adams’ personal appearance at Wales Millennium Centre.

Gerry Cinnamon

Gerry Cinnamon is a Scottish singer-songwriter, who is mostly known for his acoustic playlist from 2017.  His fans will finally be able to hear him play his new album, The Bonny, which was released last year.

Foals

Date: 5th of  June 2021

Time: 17:00 – 23:00

Foals is a heartfelt rock band from England that started in the late 2000s, where they mostly played in their hometown house parties and in abandoned hostels in South London. The band have toured internationally for over a decade, and have featured at many festivals including Glastonbury and Coachella.

School of Rock

Time: 14:30 or 19:30

School of Rock is the global hit musical based on the iconic movie starring Jack Black. Posing as a substitute music teacher at an elite prep school, he exposes his students to the rock gods he idolises, transforming them into a mind-blowing rock band. We can’t wait to watch this performance at the theatre!
