Housebuilder gives financial boost to Mountain Ash man raising money for Holibobs Children’s Cancer Charity

£1000 donation is being given to the Holibobs Children’s Cancer Charity by a very generous leading house builder because a man is climbing Pen Y Fan not only ONCE, but 10 times in just 24 hours!

Tom Edwards, from Moutain Ash, is undertaking a very brave and adventurous challenge known as the ‘10YFan’ challenge in hopes to raise as much as possible for the Holibobs Children’s Cancer Charity.

This lovely man is dedicated to helping children diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia spend precious time together as a family through the provision of short breaks and family holidays.

Persimmon East Wales has donated £1,000 to Tom’s fundraising efforts through the company’s Community Champions initiative, which sees up to £750,000 a year given to good local causes and organisations across Britain.

Any helping hand is brilliant but Persimmon Homes East have raised the bar high for Toms incredible act and he has nothing but gratitude and praise towards this generous donation. On receiving the donation Tom said: “I am so grateful to Persimmon Homes East Wales for their generous donation. It not only means a lot to me but will also make a huge difference to the lives of children diagnosed with cancer and their families”.

We all know how incredibly important family time is. So this incredible amount will allow a lot of new and happy, treasured memories to begin and be held on to. Give them something to look forward to and brings in that extra joy. It also encourages Toms tense training which he plans to continue doing over the next few months, until the challenge takes place in May. Tom has already begin running and hiking as part of his training regime in preparation for the challenge.

He hopes to be accompanied on a few of the ascents by his dog Tom in a challenge which will see him climb South Wales highest mountain which stands at 2,907ft.

It is not only Tom who’s very appreciative of this kind donation. Lee Gillen, chair of Trustees for Holibobs Children’s Charity, said: “On behalf of Holibobs I would like to extend my sincerest thank you to Persimmon Homes East Wales for this generous donation”. Lee states that this charity relies completely on fundraising and not only will this money be helping families who are going through a very difficult time but it will encourage more donations and hopefully fulfil more families.

“Tom’s incredible fundraising effort along with this very kind donation from Persimmon will allow us to continue to help these families.”

Richard Summers, Commercial director at Persimmon East Wales was more that thrilled to be able to support Holibobs Children’s Cancer Charity.
“Our Community Champions initiative is all about supporting people and communities where we build new homes and this particular charity helps families within our communities at a time when they need help the most.

Tom has a tough time ahead and his determination and dedication put nothing but a smile on Richards face as he states he is proud to be able to support him in his fundraising efforts as well as the charity themselves.

“We wish Tom the very best of luck in completing this challenge and are proud to be able to support him in his fundraising efforts for such a deserving cause.”
