Creative Director at Reem Gallery, curator, writer and podcaster
Phoebe Minson is the Creative Director of Reem Gallery, curator, arts and culture writer and podcaster. Based in Soho, Minson splits her time at Reem Gallery in Ham Yard alongside completing her degree in BA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins.
Joining the gallery in 2021 Minson became the Creative Director of Reem Gallery at the age of 21. Her busy and varied role sees Minson constantly seeking out interesting, up and coming contemporary artists, curating exhibitions for the gallery’s Soho space, building an engaged database of clients and selling artworks to buyers in the UK and around the world. When Minson isn’t studying or working at Reem Gallery she can be found enjoying and documenting London’s thriving culture scene. From the art industry big hitters to independent galleries and cult artists Minson’s social media content showcases the best, must-visit London exhibitions, artist interviews and studio visits.
Through her writing, podcasting and content creation Minson is passionate about gender justice, women’s issues, understanding mental illness, anthropology and climate justice. Minson also sets out to start discussions on the shortcomings of art education, the power of art therapy, how society interacts with art and creativity and the love/hate relationship between artists and social media.
With a lifelong passion for art Minson first met Reem Gallery Director Zaid Badda at the age of 14. She walked into Reem Gallery’s newly opened space in Camberley, Surrey with a list of questions – one being “How did you become an art dealer and how do I become one too?.” The day after her 16th birthday Minson signed up as a volunteer at a local public art gallery. Minson quickly was promoted from volunteer, to receptionist to Front of House Assistant and then to Events Assistant.
Minson completed school with A levels at the highest grades, despite a year of home-school due to poor health, and was offered an unconditional offer on the Foundation Fine Art course at Central Saint Martins, which she passed the following year with Distinction.
In 2018, Minson was 18 and experiencing her first year of living in London. At this time Minson accepted a temporary role as a gallery assistant for Reem Gallery’s Mayfair pop up. She sold a Banksy on her second day. Two years later Minson joined the Reem Gallery team in September 2021 as an Art Consultant, before being promoted to Creative Director and Gallery Manager of the newly opened Ham Yard, Soho space on its opening in April 2022.
Since joining Reem Gallery Minson considers her part in the opening of the gallery’s Soho space one of her greatest achievements. The process took 6 months to come together and launched with an exhibition by Kay Gasei, a relationship she had been cultivating for over a year before.
Always happiest when helping people to understand the great importance of art in all its forms, in all circumstances Minson is active on social media (Instagram: @phoebe_reemgallery and Tik Tok @phoebeminson) and regularly posts on her website phoebeminson.com.
