Much of the menu is inspiredby the coastal setting, with plentiful fish and seafood options to choose from. The Crab and Crayfish linguine with a creamy lobster bisque is pure decadent comfort food, whilst the Pan Fried Fillet of Hake offers a lighter option. For the meat eaters, the Welsh Rack of Lamb with a Minted Pea Puree & Red Wine Jus is simply delicious. Vegetarian and vegan options are also good, with salads, pasta and several starters to choose from.
Holm’s Afternoon Tea and Sunday Lunch offering have become something of an institution too. The setting lends itself perfectly to the tradition of Afternoon Tea. Presented beautifully on vintage China with each mouthful lovingly prepared from scratch, it’s an ‘Insta moment’ waiting to happen.
What’s more; you can enjoy Holm’s great food in revamped surroundings. The lounge spaces and restaurant have been refurbished and offer coastal luxury at its finest. ‘The Nest’, a private dining space offering exclusively tailored menus and seating up to 12 guests, has recently been unveiled too; its rich navy and gold décor scheme creates the perfect setting for special occasions. However, the jewel in Holm’s crown is still the terrace and picturesque garden, arguably the largest al-fresco dining space in Cardiff and The Vale. Making it a popular destination to enjoy the new menus or simply a cocktail or two in late summer/early Autumn.
The service is attentive and polite without being too formal or stuffy, and the wine menu is pretty impressive, with a great selection of good reds and whites. For the rule breakers that drink Provence Rose come rain or shine, expect to find your favourite bottle of Whispering Angel on the menu.
