Are bathrooms the new heart of the home?
Bathrooms of Cowbridge is a new interior design studio that opened up on the High Street in Cowbridge in early 2023. Despite being open for less than a year, their team has a wealth of experience designing and installing luxury bathrooms. They aim to create spaces that are timeless but also reflect their client’s unique tastes, lifestyle and individual requirements. Their mission is to help each of their clients fall in love with their bathrooms and use it similarly to how many unwind on the sofa at the end of the day.
“The days where bathrooms were used purely as functional spaces are long gone,” says Charlotte Maffey, the showroom manager at Bathrooms of Cowbridge. “More and more people want to transform their bathrooms into spaces where they can pamper themselves and alleviate their stress. Our mission is to create this sanctuary in our clients’ homes, so they can fully enjoy the space for many years to come.”
The importance of your bathroom should not be understated. Bathrooms play a massive role in determining the overall value of your home – and it’s no wonder why! They are one of the most used rooms in your house. Everyone in your household will use them daily for bathing, showering, brushing their teeth or getting ready for the day ahead. With the room having so much footfall, it is understandable that you’d like it to be visually stunning and feel homely. This is precisely where Bathrooms of Cowbridge can help!
Renovations can be very stressful, but Bathrooms of Cowbridge tries to minimise the disruption to your home life by offering a comprehensive design and installation service. The journey towards bringing your dream bathroom to life is simple when put in their hands. They start the process with an initial consultation at their showroom, where they discuss your project. In this stage, they also create a wishlist, which helps their design team understand your personal preferences. The team will conduct a home visit to survey and measure the space; this to produce accurate plans for your approval. Once your final design is approved, the team begins ordering materials and scheduling the installation to bring your bathroom to life flawlessly.
The bathrooms of Cowbridge team prides itself on providing excellent service and being transparent with its clients. They believe that investing their time in getting to know every one of their clients is of the highest importance and sets them apart from their competition.
“Having an excellent rapport with our clients is of the utmost importance,” says Holly MacInnes, the Design Manager for Bathrooms of Cowbridge. “Seeing the delight on our client’s faces when their dream bathroom is brought to life is the most rewarding part of our job. I believe it is only possible because we go the extra mile to get to know our clients, immersing ourselves in their lives and understanding their individual tastes.”
“We are all passionate about interior design, and we thoroughly enjoy every project we take on,” added Charlotte. “One of our favourite recent projects was for a client building their forever home. They wanted the space to encompass modern luxury with characterful farmhouse decals as it was the home’s main bathroom, so it had to be both functional and fabulous. We took inspiration from the architectural elements of the building and wanted to ensure the breathtaking view overlooking Chepstow racecourse was unspoilt.”
During the home survey, the design team decided to use the large central window as the focal point of the room and harmoniously positioned the walk-in shower and roll-top bath on either side. The room was divided into separate working zones, and the toilet and vanity were on the adjacent wall. The client then customised the finishes and opted to paint the vanity dove grey with white stone worktops.
“Our team often incorporates natural materials into our designs to harmonise inside the bathroom with outside in nature,” continued Holly.
“We advised this client to work with a stylish neutral colour scheme and mix materials to achieve the traditional-modern bathroom requested. The wall panelling around the room’s perimeter, painted in soft beige, added subtle detail and character to the design. We also added warm white LED spotlights and recessed strip lighting in the alcoves to enhance the luxurious ambience. We believed this would provide the perfect mood lighting for our client to relax and unwind in their new bathroom.”
